Poultry,
Parrots
& People
The Project
What was the last interaction you had with a bird?
Was it a cordial conversation with a parrot or indirectly, as through the devouring of an egg salad sandwich? The colorful ways in which avian and human lives are connected are as nuanced as they are pervasive.
This creative dissertation seeks to deepen our understanding of the interconnection between poultry, parrots, and people, shedding light upon the often-unconscious forces that underlie such relationships. The themes revealed throughout the course of this study have been woven into a 30-minute film that provides a birds-eye-view of this often-overlooked facet of contemporary culture, available to watch for free today!
"The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom"

Broken Wings in Flight:
A Short Film
I created this four-minute piece in 2012 as part of the graduate studies fieldwork project that would eventually evolve into my current work.
